It is NEXT weekend!

Yes many of you missed out on a great time in Bristol last weekend. Although it was Rainy on Saturday we still did have great sailing on Friday and Saturday. The hospitality was excellent as always with the Bristol gang providing good food and plenty of beer and lots of quality time with friends. As I write this we are in the middle of the Labor Day weekend and enjoying the time with family and friends.

But it, lest then a week away it is also time to focus on the next event of the Atlantic Coast Championship series. 4th Annual……. Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club……. A-Class Catamaran Regatta.

· Currently, we are still showing 36 sailors for the upcoming regional regatta at Lake Hopatcong. We have about 6 maybes that are NOT on the list as well. We still have plenty of housing for everyone so any last minute additions are welcome. IF anyone wants to come in Thursday night let us know so we can make sure we leave the light on for you.

A special note…with two more regattas left in the series, the Atlantic Coast Championship trophy is up for grabs still. Since it is a high point scoring system with the large attendance expected at this regatta, the sailors that attend surely be able to rack up a lot of points toward the Trophy. So those of you that have their eyes on that award you might want to make sure you attend the lake Hopatcong Regatta this year or someone else will sneak in and take it. Remember also that it takes 4 regattas to qualify so if you did well at one of the earlier ones this year you still need to get 4 regattas In to get in the money.

FRIDAY September 11th

· Our plans are to put out a starting line with a windward course and do some practice races on Friday starting right after lunch. If the wind is good and people are around we will set them up a little earlier. We will pull the marks around 5:0pm and head for the club for a few beers and assign everyone their lake side accommodations.

· The famous welcome party-dinner starts around 7:00pm on Friday. This year’s event is hosted by Steinbaum family at their beautiful new lakeside home just across the lake from the yacht club. As always this is the party not to miss as a big part of the Lake Hopatcong A-cat fleet culture.

SATURDAY September 12th

· Registration starts at 8:30 With your registration fees you will get our annual A-Cat T-shirt as well all you meals taken care of.

· Racing starts at 11:00am on Saturday AM with a skippers meeting at 9:30am. Coffee and bagels will be at the club but fear not as most of your housing hosts will have breakfast for you ready when you wake up.

· Saturday after trying to get 5 or more races in we will go over the days sailing with some beers and learn why someone did so well and why others did not fare as well.

· After getting cleaned up we join in with the rest of the Yacht Club members for the annual Beefsteak dinner filled with unlimited beer and food as well as an auction with tons of stuff to bid and win.

SUNDAY September 13th

· Racing will start earlier at 10:00am and try to get at least 3 races in before finishing up.

· Trophies will be given out a little while after racing.

You can look at the list of sailors that have committed to join us this weekend on the USACA website (USACA EVENTS and Lake Hopatcong) or the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club’s site LHYC.com. If you do not see your name up there and you are planning to come up then let me know so we can get you housing and put out an extra plate of food. Also by looking at the list it might allow for some people to travel together.

On behalf of the A-cat fleet of Lake Hopatcong we look forward to seeing you all next weekend. Enjoy the holiday and see you on the Lake.
