Sailcraft Navaho 46
I'm interested in buying a sailcraft Navaho 46 built by sailcraft brightlingsea. When did they stop building these boats?
All I can find in Patrick Boyd's book
Catamarans in close up
is that the hulls are moulded and the bridge deck and cabin are glass coated marine ply. The cat was introduced just before the book came out in 1972. There does not seem to be much information on the http://www.iroquois.org.uk/ website which covers most of the Sailcraft cats.
Reently, w/in one year there was a Navaho or extended Apache for sale in Europe for an attractive price. It has sold. If it were within range of me, Pacific Coast, I'd of made a ply at it. But, by way of a caveat, a few years ago one of the first Apaches was on the market, $78,000 asking I think. Recently I back tracked it. She seems to have returned to Europe but was in need of some serious work, the foam core in the hull above the water line had water in it. I would doubt if the deck has survived well if it was Balsa or plywood cored.
