Folks,
IN an effort to limit rules debates on the Forum and demonstrate that we have a clear direction, I was thinking that we should introduce a process
for the answering of rules questions:-
1) People email the Governing Council with their questions.
2)The Governing Council provides a ruling on those questions
3)The question and ruling is published in a

Everything you wanted to know about the Rules but were afraid to Ask

section on the web site.

That way when someone comes up with a question on the forum we can direct them to ask the question to the GC for a ruling. That way the GC does not have to get involved in rules debates.

We just provide a decision and our decision is final and it is publish for all to see.

It also provides a resource to prospective designers or people who just want to play with things on their boats. Another means to demonstrate the forum is the social side of the class and the web site is the

real deal

when after reliable information.

I see the forum as an essential part of the class promotion, we just need to remove the destructive debate from it.

If people agree with this approach- how do we get it on the web site without having to draw on Paul Warren's limited resources all the time?
Does any of us have the access rights to put up such a page and maintain it on the Formula16.org?

If we can get a speedy decision on this we may be able to avert another rules debate on the forum.

Regards,
Phill

Just back from a weekend away and I see that things are warming up on CS again!

I agree with you Phill, if we can take away the opportunity for destructive debate (as opposed to constructive, useful debate which other classes seem to be able to manage) then let's do it.

A rules FAQ is a good idea and I'd support that route.

Was talking about this with Rolf over the weekend and totally agree; I stepped in to stop Wouter etc coming in and causing problems.
