2008 AGM

The Formula 16 Class 2008 Annual General Meeting will be held on 11th August 2008 at Mumbles Y. C, Mumbles, Wales at 19.00 hrs.
Agenda items are to be submitted to me, johnalani@formula16.org for inclusion. With the launch of the membership form on the class website, only fully paid-up members may submit items for consideration. All submissions shall comply with the requirements set out in the Class Constitution which may be found on the Class website; http://www.formula16.org
Personally I don not recognize this AGM in any way or form as :
-1- The minutes of lasts years AGM are still not made available to the general public/F16 membership
-2- No agenda has been publically set and announced for this years AGM
-3- No possibility for remote input has been arranged or even announced.
-4- No F16 constition (whatever that is) has been made available to the general public /F16 membership
-5- There is no basis in the current F16 class rules to have either a seperate constitution or an even an AGM
-6- Neither the constitution or the AGM can become part of the F16 class without a general class vote accepting either as official F16 entities. Ruling by GC decree is not an option in this case, sorry; that was never what the F16 class was about. We are supposed to be a membership driving organisation.
-7- The pool of participants in the Mumbles AGM is not a significant crosssection of the world wide F16 class and its members.
I'm sorry guys, we have been down this road many times before but all the current GC appears to do is ignore to serious issues and go ahead with whatever they have planned anyway.
I highly respect the time and effort invested by any volunteer no buts. However, there is a minimal benchmark of quality to be satisfied and we are not even close to passing that.

Well turn up then and tell them this!

On a point of order from a paid-up member, the GC noted that the notice of the 2008 AGM had not been correctly made. As a result the proposed AGM was converted to an Information and Progress meeting only.
At that meeting, held in place of the AGM, the Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary made full reports. PR for the class was discussed and broad discussions held on future aims. It was a relatively short meeting. Two members joined the meeting online via Skype.
The minutes of this meeting will be published to paid up members. The notice for the AGM (this time following the correct timescale) will also be issued to paid up members and arrangements made to hold the AGM online. The first step in the process will (hopefully) be the adoption of the F16 Constitution which has been drafted by the Governing Council and which members will have the opportunity to vote on very shortly.
Once the Constitution is in place, the framework for all other administrative decisions affecting the class will be available for all members to utilise.
