And here is a pic of Sandra's Bim 16 with the old mainsail.

She has just received a new and larger mainsail. Will post those pictures on the webpage too.

This is an old a-cat sail that has been recut.

Just thought to put some human interest items in on this forum.

Wouter-

Thanks for the pic. Can you comment on her spi pole? Seems to have a "kink" in it- near (at?) the bridle- Kind of hard to see well in the photo. Does she use a bag or snuffer of some kind for her spi?

Hello,

There is a little kink because the spi pole is made of two parts of a windsurfmast... This pole was already on the boat when we bought it and it works so we haven't replaced it yet. Next year we will replace it because the pole is probably getting weaker because of the sun.

We use a bag on the trampoline. We always sail together, so a bag is alright. The only bit of a problem is that our boom is very low so because of that the bag is a bit in the way. People who are to tall or to big can't sail with us because of the low boom....

Next weekend we are going to work on our new main sail. We will make a new (longer) boom and we have to look were to cut the battens. It will probably will be a lot of work, but it will be worth it. It is very exciting, we have the new sail lying in our living room and it looks great, but we don't know how it will sail. It has become 10% larger and there is more "bolling" (Wouter, help! I dont'know the english word! It is deeper?) in the front. Arjen Kooij says it is more agressive...

When the sail is ready on our boat I will make new pictures!

Hi Sandra,

Can you tell me the diameter of your spinnaker pole.

Eventually I will make a carbon two piece pole and just wondering what size you are using.

If you know the thickness of the wall of the pole that would also be useful information.

Regards,

Phill

Hello Phill,

I will measure it next time. Unfortunately I didn't read your message before I went sailing this weekend.

Eh... Hello, here is Sandra... I'm amazed. My picture on the web and I don't know anything about it...! 🙂

By the way: Binne is the webmaster of the website of our catamaranclub. Very clever of him to get more people to our site: www.omaho.tk !!!

What do you think of the sail? We're not quite finished with everything (battens, mast, etc.). We've sailed it with 1 beaufort together on saturday and sunday it was 2 beaufort and Frank sailed it alone and I went with friends on their trimaran (dragonfly also with new Arjen Kooij mainsail). We hope next weekend there will be more wind! For now the sail looks much more agrresive and we have to be a bit more carefull that the boat won't dive.

The mast rotates a bit difficult, but maybe it will be better if we change the pre-bend. Can anyone give us some advise?

When I was on the dragonfly, my friends (who own the boat) made a lot of digital pictures of Frank sailing our Bim with the new sail. When she sends them to me, I will show them on the forum. Then you can see the shape better. The picture Wouter and Binne send, is made with 0-1 beaufort, so you can't see the shape very well.

By the way, the guy in front of the picture with the yellow suit is Frank and the girl in the back with the wooden shoes (...) is me.

Sandra (also greetings from Frank)
