Announcement ! Group deal of Taipan F16's for EU
Currently we are working with 4 parties and AHPC to compose a group deal on the Taipan F16 design for Europe.
This means sharing the shipment costs, and hopefully reduce them by doing this.
It just occured to me that there maybe more parties interested in the Taipan F16 for which this group deal may be an attractive proposition. The more parties involved the more attracttive it can become for all of us.
Some info on the group deal.
It is an arrangement between AHPC and the parties directly.
It deals with the Taipan F16 version (different from the Taipan 4.9) and means that AHPC :
- makes it 2.5 mtr wide
- uses a larger round 80x2 mm T7 alu tube as the rear beam. This adds stiffness that would otherwise be lost by going wider. Some commented that the boat even feels slightly stiffer than the 4.9 as a result, but this can be personal.
- uses the internal cascaded mainsail downhaul system that has proven itself
- Delivers on request an F16 mainsail (different cut then the Taipan 4.9 mainsail)
- Fits a selftacking setup to the boat. With a fully battened jib on a bridle strut if I understood it correctly.
- Fits the AHPC snuffer system to the boat. (In my opinion one of the best snuffer systems available)
- Fits the modern cut spinnaker to the boat.
- On request fits the platform with carbon boards/stocks/rudders
- Modifies the trampoline to accomodate the spinnaker setup.
- there is another modification that is being considered but we'll just have to wait till the decision to go this way is definate.
This Taipan F16 (except for the last undisclosed modification) can be seen in the Netherlands as Marks boat is the prototype version of it. I think the boat can also be seen during the comming weeks.
The shipment is planned to leave Aus this januari or so and arrive in the Netherlands at the start of the 2005 sailing season.

The group is about the enter the final negociation with AHPC about the group deal of Taipan F16's to Europe.
Anybody who is seriously interested better make contact with us now.
There are still some hard nuts to crack, but if things go sour then the group will just to another F16 design.
