[#9833]

hello everybody,

I am new on this list and I hope I will learn al lot from other f16-sailors. My friend and I, we have a Bim 16 and we are the only one in the Netherlands... It's a shame.

We really enjoy our Bim, especially since we put a new spinnaker from Arjen Kooij on it. Next week we will also have a new main sail from him. I hope it will all fit because we are goning to maken some changes. We will make the sail longer and we are going to connect the boom (I hope this is the right English word, "giek" in dutch..) to the mast, so it will actively rotate the mast. Bim 16 has this very beautiful light and thin boom which is not attached tot the mast. But we are going to change it now and replace the boom for a thicker one and attach it to the mast. What do you think of this plan? The nice thing of this is that we will have a bigger main sail! (I hope we will like it and so wille our boat..)

Does anyone of you sail a Bim 16? And do you know matches in Germany or Belgium (or the North of France) where we an race against other Bim 16's? We have our cat for the 3th season now and we would really like to compare ourselfs with another Bim 16. Now we are sailing against inter 20 and 18, A-cats, Dart Hawk, etc.

I'm looking forward to hear from you!

Sandra,

Hallo, en inderdaad "boom" is het juiste woord for the giek. But I will continue in English now so that the others can understand what I write.

I would be very interested in seeing your boat in real life. Coz, I haven't seen that one myself yet. Furthermore, there is a Taipan 4.9 spi in the netherlands now and my F16 will be ready in a few months time, the STealth F16 will be over for a regatta or two this season and maybe the four of us can hook up for a regatta like "Het kustzeilevenment" or "rondje tiengemeente" and have some fun. There are some other looking at F16's too right now. I'm looking to kick start a Dutch F16 group this season.

I also want ot make some more photo's of the Bim 16. As that boat could be really attractive to sailorss in the Netherlands as it would be the most inexpensive design available in the F16 class.

I'm sure that we at the forum would love to help you out and give you pointers on anything from sailing trim to fixing up a boom. The Taipan class in AUS is very competitive and these guys have very good pointers form time to time.

Personally I would like to know what size spi you have ordered and what size your new mailsail will be.

Would it be alright if I gave you a call ? Or maybe you can mail me at WouterHijink@hotmail.com

Regards,

Wouter
