How many F-16s are CE certified?

Stealth, for sure as it is buildt and sold in Europe?
Blades?
Formulacatamarans (guess not, too new)?
Vectorworks?
Taipans?
Vipers (guess not, too new)?

Why do I ask? A friend looks at importing and selling a rotomould constructed 16 foot cat with spi. He thinks it wise to be able to point to the F-16 class as a possible performance upgrade and suited for serious racers if they grow out of this platform. First step of the F-16 process is to check the CE status for the different builders and consider getting an agency.

(For information to you on other continents with less bureaucracy, all recreational boats sold by a business to a consumer ned to have an CE certificate issued. The certificate just say what waters the craft is suiteable/intended for etc.)

When a F16 catamaran is defined for racing and not for recreational sailing is then a CE certificate really necessary?
And the F16 class rules say:
The designs are of amateur or professional construction and are intended for racing on elapsed time with respect to other Formula 16 designs, as well as Formula 18 class designs.

So it's just a matter of the definition.
My Blade has no CE certificate

Thanks Matt. Hope others chime in on the topic if they know wether the other brands/boats have a CE certificate.

Timbo,
CE is a certificate of conformity to certain standards (stability, documentation, intended use etc.). Within the european union a company can not sell a boat for recreational use without a CE certificate.

Holger, you are actually right. I checked it now, and pure racing craft dont need to go trough the CE process. It have to be marked an sold as a racing craft to be compliant tough. I dont know the details in this, but if the F-16 is a pure racing craft it looks like there is a loophole available?

Boats built for racing are CE exempt. Building boats to the F16 class formula makes this very clear as far as the regulations are concerned.

The papaerwork though to get a Class D for a beach cat is not difficult. We do CE certs for some of our other customers regularly. It mainly involves a bunch of paperwork and some additional record keeping.

For those who really want to know what is meant with a CE certificate, you can read here the official

RECREATIONAL CRAFT DIRECTIVE AND COMMENTS
TO THE DIRECTIVE COMBINED

http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/maritime/maritime_regulatory/doc/guide_v2_94_25_en.pdf

A boat raced at the GC event has to comply with category

C

C. INSHORE: Designed for voyages in
coastal waters, large bays, estuaries, lakes
and rivers where conditions up to, and
including, wind force 6 and significant wave
heights up to, and including, 2 m may be
experienced.
