Can you suggest what to use to make some markings on the dagger boards. looking to make how much board is in the water when raised to several points on the board.

marker pen is best, but in reality there should be lines on the boards from the manufacturer.... Something that goes on every dev team's list but gets cut due to hassles in building. A bit like marks on trampolines for rotation.

The easiest thing is

permanent

marker, which lasts from a few regattas to a season, depending on lots of things. It is easy to renew when it gets warn away. You can even leave yourself reminders on the board like to look behind for gusts and shifts or the order that you get things ready to go upwind. It is pretty easy to get rid of the writing if and when you want to with fiberglass polish.

I used to use a black sharpie and marked them at 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 up. Now that I use a pull-up line, I know about where I want the boards based on that. When I get near shore, I just pull them all the way out of the slot and lie them on the tramp.

Matt is going to need to mark his though, a special red line set at

Sandbar

height!
