Hi all,

Yes the Twofold Bay Reggatta has been and gone. Numbers were down in fast cat division this year. Two Aclass, one F16HP oneup (Altered), three F16 oneup Mosquitos, one Hobie 20, one Hobie 18, three Hobie 17's, one cat rigged Mosquito. Courses were three triangles, two windward and returns (sausages). Four races were completed ranging from 5kts. to 25kts. all gusty and shifty, wind was of the land but there was still some ocean swell coming in from the other direction.

The F16 Mosquitos cleaned up on Yardstick. Coming 1st. 2nd. 3rd. one was even first over the line in race three. Altered was first over the line in two races and the other race the Aclass was first.

Altered had a great time trying to match it with Aclass upwind. Did best in strongest breeze against Aclass upwind nearly holding speed and just a degree or two lower. Aclass was Boyer Mk4. with canted hulls and carbon mast placed mid fleet in 05' nationals skipper was 100kg. against my 90kg.
Altered lead part of all races but couldn't keep up with A on spinnaker less reaches in stronger winds and had huge nosedive capsize on trapeze with spinnaker up on reach in race three whilst leading. Will post full results when I get them.

Regards Gary.

What is Altered? In the pictures it looks like an A cat that has been shrunk to 16' with a differnt mast?

Tim,

Altered = the prototype boat for the Boyer Mark 5 A-cat that was converted by Gary into an F16.

Gary bought it and then cut the hulls down to 5 mtrs (= max F16's), made it wider and fitted alu beams etc to get it up to weight. Strengthened the hulls to take the bridle strop and fitted a spinnaker. He also cut down the old carbon A-cat mast to 8.5 mtr (=max F16) and had Irwin sails make him a F16 mainsail.

Now you understand why it is called "A"ltered ! Because it is an altered A-cat.

It is now a full compliant F16.

Lindsay also made Gary's beautiful spinnaker (he has also made nearly all the Mosquito spinnakers here).
