New Build
New pics uploaded to F16 website.
Excuse the dodgy paint, it will be professionally finished when I'm happy with it.

Thanks, I'm pretty happy with the general look of it. Had to compromise in a few areas due to time and cost, and I'd change these if I built again, but generally speaking it has turned out how it was planned.
The new beams off the old mozzie. It's not ideal but it will get me back on the water the quickest, still need to get the hang of racing cats.
I plan on upgrading the beams, tramps, and rig once I'm happy that the hulls are good, but that will be atleast a year away, unless some good luck (or money) comes my way.
Thanks, the basic hull design concept was a cross between a Hungy Tiger Moth, Taipan and add a fair bit of freeboard plus a dash of extra rocker (compared with a mozzie). The aim is for a good heavy weather boat, while keeping the transoms clear of the water in the light stuff...time will tell.
Yeah, it has a square top main, only different to a mozzie main from the second top batten up. I have some reasonable GPS data from the old mozzie, but it is generally in very rough conditions in which the beam was being constantly smashed by waves, enough that the big ones would throw you forward, and big ones usually came once you were back up to speed from the last one! Hence the reason for extra freeboard on this boat, dragging a bit of RHS aluminium extrusion through the water is slow in anyones language.
Upwind target speed from experiences in previous mozzie was something like 16 knots in about 18-20 knots and lots of chop. 19ish knots on a fast reach I seem to recall. Also my old mozzie was a deep V hull, not like the new rounded hulls.
I can see the Hungry Tiger moth influence in the sterns, looks good, how much do the hulls weigh?
16knots upwind would be very nice, I see slightly more then half that going upwind while tacking through less then 90 degrees. Tacking through 90 is about 10knots.
19knots Max off wind sounds about right for a Mozzie, well, my Mozzys anyway.

I fear the hulls weigh too much, dunno how much though. Again, another one of those compromises for saving time. I wanted 8mm Corecell but there was none in stock from the supplier for about 1-2 months so went with 10mm Airex. I also wanted to get everything from the one supplier, simpler logistics.
16 knots was absolute max upwind in a real blow while footing (couldn't point on the old boat due to lack of forestay tension).
