Wouter, has Kirt mentioned anything about putting one of these ventilation elbows on the front access port? It would seem if you put a similar arangment on the front port (facing forward instead of aft) in would force air into the hull and acellerate the drying process considerably. You would haver a situation similar to what inboard power boats use to keep fumes out of the bilge.
If you had any distance to tralier you might be bone dry by the time you arrived home. Just a thought...

I have two computer muffin fans that I sit on rubber seals over my rear hatches and suck or blow air with the front hatches off. This is only good to accellerate drying when the boat is under cover or a fine day.
I like Kirt's sollution with the elbows for permanent ventilation.

I have considered the fan idea- but even with a port at the front beam you have nearly half the length of the boat (the bow) without "flow-through", although it would be better than with only the rear port- My boat pretty much stays dry (as near as I can tell) while sailing so I use the ventilation ports (which are sold for Recreational vehicles- look in that section of the Wal Mart or at an RV dealer) mostly to allow the hulls to "breathe". You can't keep them dry anyway without constant dessication- Just go out late in the moring after a damp, cool night and feel the inside of your hulls- will be damp or dripping.

The earlier glass boats also had front ports.
From memory:-
The front ports if installed according to plan are centred 340mm back from the main beam and 145mm in from the inside gunwale. Just right so you can get you hand (up to and including elbow) in to do up the beam bolts.
The fact the section forward does not get air blown through has always concernd me and at one stage I was even looking at building in a breather pipe from the front port that I could blow air through. I finally decided I was being paranoid and dropped the idea.
