Our Spitfire brothers and sisters at Aruba !
Our Spitfire brothers and sisters have done well at the 15th Aruba regatta last week.
Attendence was down but Chris Sproat and Georgina Burke once again score a great 5th out of 47 boat place on their Spitfire #158. John Bleech and Gilly Green sailed their Spitfire #122 to a 14th place out of 47 participants.
Both boats in the top third of the fleet !

Final top five after ten races and two discards:
1. GBR – F18 – Gummer/Power, 10 points
2. NED – Tornado – Zanen/Heemskerk, 19 points
3. GBR – Tornado – Allen/Farren, 38 points
4. NED – F18 – Kerstens/Smissaert, 41 points
5. GBR – Spitfire – Sproat/Burke, 44 points
Gummer/Power sailed the well know totalled Spitfire last year (see posts : Spitfire-Nacra collision at Aruba 2004 ) and had to buy a new boat they bought a Capricorn F18 and competed on that in this years Aruba regatta.
This years Aruba saw alot of tornado's competing , no less than 15 boats and they are together with the F18's (also 15 boats) the biggest class at this event.
Here are the direct links to the foto pages :
There are 2 spitfires visible at this event both with transparant monofilm sails, one with orange batten pockets and one with blue batten pockets. They are quite easy to spot.

Wouter, what does it cost to ship your boat to this regatta? I see it is mostly a GBR and NED attended event, are there ever any Americans?
And, when is the Heineken Regatta in St. Maarten? Thanks. (I'm drinking a Heineken as I type this...so I think they should at least pick up the tab for a charter boat.
