Pictures of Hagar 2005 (USA)
Roy Laughlin made some excellent pictures of sailing catamarans again. This time at the Hagar distance race weekend. See

I must say that those bridge make for some special airial shots.
Roy give a write-up with the pictures as well but for that you'll need to go to his site and click on as many pictures as you can.
Here a few tasters :

The Blade F16 on the beach with cool sailing dude ; just misses a babe in bikine laying down on the bow.

The pre-start jockying for position. Taipan F16 of the Harndens and the Blade F16 of the McDonalds are next to one another, there in the middle of the pack.

The Blade F16 under spi in light winds. That grey/white/green colour scheme works.

The bridge shots give great looking angles. Here a good one of Chuck and Mavis Harnden. Sadly there were only two good shots of them sailing the Taipan F16. The Blade as the new kid on the block received a little more attention. But the first bridge picture is all for the Harndens; showing good trim, good speed and enjoyement !

For a show of determination we need not to look further. Sterns out of the water, a little twist in the mainsail AND jib thus opening up the slot. Also laying flat on the trampoline to cut down on that last bit of aerodynamic drag. This crew is sailing for a good result.

But there is time to show that this is a fun race as well.

Here the second pic of the Harndens, crossing a bridge later in the race.

Here is the end result of using the spi pole to break the fall of the skipper. The pole is well secured in upward and sideways direction but not downwards.
