i'll end w/ some controversy: we're all sailing the F16 wrong upwind ! I think the short waterline and tall mast of the F16 mandates sailing the boat dynamically from the wire , especially if its light to moderate and choppy. I think you must move your body in anticipation of the next swell or else the mast begins to pedulum and evetually the coanda attachment is lost entirely.Next time you sail in some chop concentrate on the tip of the mast and shuffle forward or aft in opposition to the masts period. betcha can reduce the period (T) by a couple of feet either way. Here's how I've set up my wire ring to accomodate this experiment (remember to wire in light wind you need some sdjustability in ring height)...
