Shroud position question.

Checked the N F16 out very closely in thailand. The chain plates are definetly further back than a viper or a taipan. The daggers are slightly further foward as well.
Not sure why the shrouds are further back but I guess it might take some compression out of the rig???

With a spinnaker, there is no reason why the main should move out, hence the shrould can be more aft. This reduces also the main sheet tension when sailing downwind with spi, giving a new degree of freedom for main trimming.
On the other side, what happens, when the boat is sailing downwind without spi (in confined spaces like harbours) or with handling on the beach?
It was one of the
won't do that again
mistakes I made when building Bitsa, I moved the shrouds back about 100mm more than most A's of the time to try and reduce the loading from Spinny with the understanding that we seldom if ever have the boom right out. Works really well but that position is right where you want to sit upwind when hiking only as a single hander and it is just where the tiller bar and main sheet clash when going upwind out on the wire.
With two on board it would not be such a problem but as a single hander its a real pain. Presently rerigging the main sheet to give a foward sheet to use upwind ahead of the stay. Bit complicated but workible if I think about it.
