I rigged the spin sheet to the inboard forward rope loop on the tramp. This seemed to work fine, however the fwd trap bungee needs to be clipped back to the shroud. Those inexpensive aluminum mountain climbing style shackles at Home Depot or Lowe’s are fine. They come in fancy colors too. The sheet then runs forward of the shroud/trap line. I’ll need to fix that in the rigging instructions too. I was moving off the windward shore and the wind was building! The leech was fluttering a bit, but I’m not going to worry too much until I’m happy with the pole height. This may go away after the sail stretches a little. I’m on the wire now! I’ve heard that the cat spin should never be cleated, but hand tended at all times. I’m not sure this is reasonable 1 up. I used the jib sheet blocks with the cleats and they worked great, right up to the time I capsized!. That’s a really big fishing net! As the big puff hit, the high line load rotated the clam cleat mechanism down into the tramp, making it virtually impossible to uncleat. Then I made the cardinal mistake and went low to try to pop it loose. Next thing, there was a lot of grey tramp above me! This little 4.9 capsizes very easily. Sure will be nice when the water gets a bit warmer!

Personally I'm looking at the Aussie style cleats which are fitted to the shrouds as the cleat to hold my spi sheet when I'll sail 1-up. They are in the right place when trapezing and easy uncleated.

Did you turtle the boat ?

Can you describe the Aussie Style Cleats? Are they basically cam cleats on the windward rail?

Jeff-

They are cam cleats on the side of the shroud adjusters-

Hopefully the attachment will be a picture of the ones on my boat. They are also great for cleating the "dolly" lines!!
