Two sketches of the Typhoon F16
I'm pretty certain that I will call my boat a Typhoon F16.
Their are some goodies visible in the sketch.
To name a few :
- hobie mast hook system, head of sail is now flush with masttop
- Longer luffed jibsail which is sheeted of the trampoline right behind the main beam. The jib luff is fixed to the spi pole orbetter Gennaker pole.
- obviously the 17.5 sq.mtr. gennaker. it is a long luffed gennaker and it's aspect ratio is slightly higher than that of the F18's (only some 3 % but still, it feels good to be on the right side of the devide)
- My boom is fixed relatively high above the trampoline
- But it still uses the best parts available and that could not be improved upon. Boyer daggerboards and hulls similar to the Taipan 4.9, a Goodall wingmast with internal downhaul system and the spi will be made by Peter Vink in the Netherlands.
- The mainsail is still being designed and it features a 30 % squaretop.
- The rudders will either be A-cat rudders (from Boyer or Bimare) OR the T-foil rudders from Stealthmarine. I'm leaning towards the last.
- As you can see in the sketch; the gennaker will probably be sheeted of the trampoline. This gives Peter Vink more freedom in optimizing the foot and sheeting angle of the gennaker.
- Because both the jib and gennaker are sheeted of the trampoline the hulls stay clean and so will also the trampoline itself. The genneaker sheet in not drawn in the second picture but picture it on the trampoline and on the inside of the hull just behind the leading edge of the daggerboard.
- what you cannot see are the Aussie style jib cleats on the sidestays which will hold the spi when singlehanding and be also used to control mastrotation when going upwind. The Taipan daggerboard raising system. I love that daggerboard system.
I'm really enjoying myself with this building.
btw; seeker tell us a little of your progress ! By the way I've got some idea's that you might want to try also. I'll mail you.
Regards,
Wouter
