Is there a decent Pet friendly place to stay near the event site? We are looking at coming and will have our dog with us.

Whipped this hotel list together... This isn't even all the hotels in the area.. there are TONS. I put over 30 hotels on here and most are within 2-3 miles of the club. Those prices are for september. Range from $50-$275 a night.. most on the cheaper side. There are quite a few pet friendly ones.
I will finish this eventually and fill in the rest of the phone numbers and prices.
Not sure if the condos listed at F18Northamericans.com are pet friendly or not, my guess is not.
We haven;t discussed a host hotel yet but should have that sorted out soon.

FYI
We stayed at International Inn & Suites last year and it was kind of a dump.

Don't do it! He's lying! He is 5'3

and weighs 275, and has almost no sailing experience. And, he is using my sail #! <img src="<>/laugh.gif" alt="laugh" title="laugh" height="15" width="15" />

I work at a Hobie dealer that is 4 miles from HYC. Let me know if you need anything on this end logistically... storage, place to send a container, etc.

We are looking at a cross country drive. So taking 3 weeks with a stop off in Ohio on the way in and out. Hopefully we can get a double or tripple stack set up and split some of the fuel cost for the truck. then the other teams can fly in and enjoy. Fingers crossed it works out.

Will there be a chance to measure the boats at the event? My boat isn't measured and I don't have a measurer within 12 hours drive of me.

There will be measurement at the event, but with a whole season to go, you should really save yourself the effort and take care of it sooner. Many folks thought ahead last year and they went through the

express

line in Racine - all-up weight check and onto the beach.

There will be a number of measurers at the NOOD event (like there was last year). Buddy up to someone and get 'er done. Pop me a PM or an e-mail if you'd like, or pick one of the other guys.

Another great reason to come to North Americans... AC World Series Event 3 September 17-25th. Article http://www.newport-now.com/2011/02/... newport-remains-on-top-ofthe-short-list/
Newport has a 75% chance to hold this event.
It's only an hour and a half from Hyannis! And your only 30 minutes from Newport on your drive to the Cape.

Best Airport to Fly into?

Boston (BOS) or Providence (PVD) are the best options. Both are about an hour and a half drive.

Boston is an hour to hour and a half, without traffic... which can be crazy at certain times.
You can get a connector flight from Boston for pretty cheap into Hyannis/Barnstable airport which is 5 minutes from the club. There are multiple car rental agencies at the local airport too.
Bus fare from Boston to Hyannis is $19.

If anyone is interested, you could come early for NA's and sail in some of our very competitive events which all get 15-20 F18s:
Hyannis Regatta July 29-31st (same venue as NA's)
Buzzards Bay Regatta August 5-7 (45 minutes from Hyannis)
New England 100 August 13-14th (Location TBD 45-1.5 from Hyannis)
Canadian Nationals Sept. 3-5 (Venise, Quebec, 5.5 hour from Hyannis)
You could even come earlier if you wanted!
I will arrange storage in Hyannis, transportation to and from Hyannis airport or to bus terminal for Boston, possible boat transportation, definitely to Hyannis Regatta, and possibly Buzzards Bay if you can't leave a car.
The ideal way to do this would be to come up and leave a car if you have that luxury. I can probably provide some floor space for Hyannis Regatta too if that helps.

OMG - I've seen his video's too. He keeps trying to eat the mainsheet. I think it must look like a Slim-Jim to him or something. Too bad he left the West Coast and started eating. He was just starting to get good...his crew might be available. Now he was GOOD.

Glad to hear you west coasters are coming! Save money and pick up a Wildcat here? Hoping to sell our Demo boat right before NA's and open up a new one for the event. Can't blame me for trying!

Online registration is now open on the HYC website here:
F18 NA Registration

The Notice of Race is available as well:
F18 NA NOR

Yeah, the early registration deadline is a long way off, but we're putting together some awesome incentives to make it worthwhile. Stay tuned as we lock up the details.
