As the title suggests, do you need a measurement cert for F18's ?

Can is there a database anywhere which cross checks Hobie Tiger sail no's with Hull No's ?

Currently, in the US, you do not have to have a measurement certificate. If your sails come from anyone other than the manufacturer (in this case Hobie or Nacra) then they need to be measured, stamped, and certified. The boats will be weighed at major events. That's about it at the moment. We will probably start randomly measuring sails at major events (as we do weights of crew and boats) in the near future.

In my experience, in Europe, new Hobie mainsails are sold with numbers affixed. These numbers are not the origial sail number of the boat, but a new higher sail number. The only reason I can see for this is to imply that there are more cats sold than the actual number.
Certainly in Ireland, Hobie is the only cat whose age cannot be identified by its sail number.
The year of a Dart 16, 18, Hawk, Spitire and in most cases Hurricane 5.9 can be identified by the sail no. I know of a few cases where second-hand 5.9 sails were put on older boats without changing the numbers.
Dermot.

Dermot, Yup, I know that, but I am wondering if the owner of the boat I have seen knows I know that.

(looking at it for a mate BTW)
