Went out today on Fidalgo Bay in perfect conditions, 12-15 kts wind and small chop. Did a couple of runs up and down the bay, and checked out the water side of our new small boat center complex due for completion mid May.

I'm stoked to be up and running already for 2011! Next weekend is the Shaw Island Winter Classic distance race. 10 mile delivery and a 13 mile race around Shaw Island. Should have 3 Tigers conditions permitting.

Note: sailing in February in the NW is just as warm as sailing in June! Same gear, same gloves, just a warmer hat!

Anyone else care to share their first cat sail of 2011?

Three F18 went out of ABYC in Long Beach today in preparation for our first fleet race of the season next weekend. We had flat water and 14-16 for an excellent shake down. Sailed across the area where the Worlds will be next year - out of the mouth of the bay and across the harbor to Queen's Gate for a very tight mark rounding, and a fantastic spinnaker run home. The Queen Mary, the Spruce Goose hangar, and the downtown skyline made for a gorgeous backdrop to the sunny day.

Good F18 fleet preregistered for the Southern California Yachting Association MidWinters - two day event with food for $20! w00000t!

We were one of the three with JW in LB. Day started off comfortable then toward the end of the day the temp dropped like 20 degrees about a moment. Came in with smiles.
