Lot of rumors going on about the new Hobie Tiger, but looking at this picture it seems it will turn up the first time in the Aruba regatta.

Look closely at the beams their for sure Hobies.
Let me know what you think.

I suppose you coul be right about the picture on the beach.
The other picture is from the Dutch Hobie dealer site, form a few weeks ago.

Lets wait till tomorrow, then the aruba regatta starts. Maybe we'll find out more.

No new F18 there, check the pics when they load the containers: http://www.arubaregatta.com/p/20/190/mo18-50
The official presentation will probably be at the Paris boat show.

So I guess Paris Boat Show is opening tomorrow and the new boat will then be launched with our without rig. Do we have any local update? Pictures would be highly appreciated, especially on the new daggerboards since we're all confused in that respect...

The topic in the open forums is new hobie f-18 http://www.catsailor.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=157408#Post157408
I spoke with Mischa on the 5th about this boat. The only carry over from the tiger is the beams. New rudders ,daggers ,sails ,mast ,and tramp. As well as the hulls. Do i think i will change boats? Not for the next few years, for 4 reasons.
1 Availability of getting the boat here in the United States.
2 Lets see the performance difference, and see if any major things are wrong with it first year out.
3 The Tiger is still a very competive boat, wins in national events and a great showing in the worlds.
4 My level in the current F-18 competion isn't up to the level of my boat currently. I can get 80% of the tigers performance , before I make mistakes. When I can push the Tiger to its upper limits of performance then I will upgrade.
The New Hobie

W

Cat looks really nice but lets see it on the water and then Judge the boat on its merits instead of speculation. The F-18 formula has produced alot of great racing arround the world with many different manufacturers winning. Now with the new Loday White Shockwave and Hobie

W

cat along side proven boats like the Infusion Capricorn and Tiger this field of boats should only get stronger in the next few years.

You can't be sure of anything at the minute, if they develop it right and use the right rig and sails it could be quick, but i don't think it will be really any quicker than any of the more modern designs like the capricorn and the infusion, it will really come down in the end to the sailors.

It looks like a cap and a fox got together and had a kid.

Sometimes the design is better in certain conditions, but basically the speed for all new F18 boats is approx. the same.

The easyness of handling that's what makes the difference.
This way you have more time for the tactical part of the game.

Certainly very similar to the capricorn, looks like it has more agressive bows. not a boat your would like to be hit by!

Lat summer in one of the major evenst in the saison. A capricorn hit mid bow a Nacra Infusion just in fron of me.
The Cap ended half way up the trampoline and lost a big part of the nose.

The Infusion was hit near the dagger board. Ending up with minor (easily reparable) damage.

So you never know.
