loday white F18
saw the prototype F18 from Loday white at the Spitfire Nationals last weekend!
sorry no pictures <img src=

trade-mark spitfire shape bows, big deep hulls, big beams,
stern chines/ spray rails !! spit style rudders, tramp and a few other bits. New mast section, neat adjustment on diamonds.
To me it looked quite simple, unclutterd and big!
but then I have a Spitfire.

We took some, but I haven't seen them yet. There is one - doesn't show a lot - on http:/
Go to Racing Events / Regfest Catamaran Festival / page 8 / jpg. 472.
I said it with a smile - my luck, that is some world famous cat sailor who will now seek to destroy me. Chalk it up to my Katie Couric moment.
Headed home in less than a week for F18s!!! No Lodays on the trailer, but we do have a Tiger, a Cap and an Infusion stacked and ready for the loooooooong drive east. All three F18 designs in the US represented on a single trailer, and the universe didn't fly apart. <img src=

Truly - I have heard very positive reports on the new White F18, though the price I heard floated was considerable. I expect that a retail price will be rolled out once they get to production. The new Hobie F18 is in the same category - a Martin Fischer design that will reportedly be raced in Aruba with full production runs in the pipeline soon. It is a good time to be racing F18.
More photos here http:/

If you count down from the top, The F18 can be seen around number 60, 205 and 220 - 2 photos each time.
Hopefully most of them will come to the Grafham Cat open in 2 weeks time <img src=

A lot of Spitfires all right - but just for the uninitiated, those without jibs are Shadows. I think Mr Loday has a theme going on, so it's difficult to tell his boats apart from a distance.
Anyway Dermot, isn't time you changed your signature a little? I look forward to getting some tips from you next time round!
Sig changed Simon - the real me <img src=

Threw up the mast today - it is sooo light <img src=

Should get first Irish race tomorrow !
I don't think Gary got the seal and flipper joke <img src=
alt=
/> Those Spitfire sailors - no sense of humour <img src=

Dermot,
you'll have to keep us up to date with your progress - on the Shadow forum I suppose, rather than continue the hijack.
Perhaps Gary didn't want to think about seals too much. We were all rather seal-like, floating around last weekend.
John certainly set himself up there! Like the
war
- he mentioned it once, but I think he got away with it!

is it true that you sail on your own 'cause you dont have any mates? <img src=

My crew, Aisling Clarke, well known over the years in the UK Spitfire fleet, has finished her studies and is now qualified and could end up anywhere in the world, so I decided that, as I'm getting old and grumpy, I'm better off on my own. By the way, the 2 Irish Spitfires that finished just in front of you at the Nationals were both mine at different times - so I'm certainly not anti Spitfire. <img src=
alt=
/> It's a pity we didn't meet there.
and very well sailed they were too!
mind you at 27 stone combined me and stand in crew Nick didnt take much beating in the light wind <img src=

we should have pinched the F18 <img src=

I did see you Dermot, especially singing! but somehow didnt get the right chance to say hello.
hope you enjoy the Shadow, being on your own means you can shout and curse much more too1

That was one hell of a nationals... except for ripping the kite and getting caught on the comitee boat..
Dammed annoyin that Sproaty won it.
The new f18 looks pretty impressive though, hopefully they will bring it up to grafham with some good sailors on it and then we can see how quick it is.
