I have had alot of time lately getting over my injured knee, and have been looking into race results and performance of F-18's. Seems like there are sweet spots for the

Big 3

where one boat has an advantage over the others. Some wind conditions favor Tigers some the Infusion , others the Capricorn.

Knowing each boat has its own properties of mast bend and sail shape, trading sails is almost impossible for putting one design sail on another mast.
I have access to the Tiger sails and an engineer who is modeling them in cad 3d. Our goal is to use the input to find the strenth and weakness of the sails.

Would anyone be willing to have their Nacra Infusion, or AHPC Capricorn sails(main and jib) measured by a sail loft and send me the measurements?

I'd like to find out if there is a way to combine some of the properties of the sails to make a better overall performing sail.
Then have a few sails made and tested to see if there is something there.
I know there are profesional sail makers out there but I'm just looking at something a little different.

It is funny you bring this up, I was looking at that website yesterday and reading about the rig development.

Another difference is that the position of maximum main sail camber is further backwards than on other boats. It is generally accepted that such a sail shape provides better performance, but it is also known that it is less forgiving than a sail with a more forward position of the maximum camber. On the Capricorn we can go for such a more critical shape, since the hulls provide for less pitching and hence a more stable flow in the upper part of the rig.
It is the overall package of the boat is what makes it so fast. Putting a normal rig on those hulls would not have led to the increase in performance as we see it now. Stepping a Capricorn rig onto a conventional platform would not have worked either.

Assuming the Tiger is

conventional

SURELY ITS BETTER TO LOOK AT THE CLASS RULES AND DESIGN A SAIL TO FIT?
