When I can find 'em, I love looking at rigging pictures from major regattas, so when I found myself at the Tiger Worlds, I took some. If you want to see how top sailors are rigging the Tiger, the pictures are at http://www.familyofbrowns.com/glenn/TigerWorlds/2005/Rigging/.

If you want beautiful pictures from the Tiger Worlds, check out Connie's Tiger Worlds Regatta Gallery at http://www.thebeachcats.com/

Enjoy,

What is truly interesting is the fact that the tigers are placing there spi blocks on the inside of the hulls right now.

They are also using a 3 block system instead of 4. One block mounted directly underneath the mast base, no holding power, then out to ratchets/carboratchamatics. My crew has enough trouble with 4 ratchets, but they are weaklings(hope they arent watching!)

One block under the base of the mast instead of one each side. So when you gybe you just grab the rope from the other side of the block under the mast. Assumes you are only running ratchets on the outboard blocks.

I didn't notice even a single boat doing this at the Tiger Worlds, although a friend recently tried this with the single block attached to the forward end of the boom so the line would clear his spinnaker bag on the tramp, and said it worked great. It does, however, reduce the holding power of the ratchamatics by ~25%.

The center turning block is a different beast. I upsized my side CarboRatchamatics on my new Tiger to 74mm for the additional holding power. It weighs more but it eliminates a block so I'm = or better on weight. I had it out in 15+ Saturday had no sweat holding the kite with one hand, Maybe my Nacra F-18 Captain can learn from the Grasshopper after we sail it Sunday. I'm sure Miss Kitka can be retrofitted.
In fact I rerouted all the lines for crew friendliness, hard lessons learned in the Spaghetti dance.
