[#28645]

I received an e-mail from The Cathouse the other day announcing the impending arrival of the

New F20NA

specs are as follows

F20NA F20C
Beam 2.6 3.2
Main 19.2 21.0
Jib 4.85 5.2
Spin 25.0 28.0
Mast 9.75 10.45

Both boats advertise carbon hulls, mast, and carbon curved boards.

What's the scoop?

looks like just a Nacra 20 with curved daggers..I don't see a market for this boat with the F20c around.

Sounds pretty cool if we can replace our hulls with carbon ones w/ lifting foils. I wonder what the price and weight are. Also it'd be nice if the carbon ones were a little less susceptible to dents. My biggest gripe w N20 is how thin skinned it is.

Can you share the e-mail with us or a link? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Dave,

There is a perfect market for this boat! 8 1/2' wide beam rules in the USA!!! The larger beam on the F20C is a PITA.

Bob the only PITA is getting your tilt trailer setup. Once you have the right trailer its no different.

Bob the F20c is so much better than any other 20 footer out there its not funny with maybe the exception of the M20. The N20 was and is a great boat but is significantly outclassed and outgunned at this point.

No doubt the F20c is quick around the courses!

The new boat does appeal to those who don't want to spend over 30K for a boat and trailer. The new boat will replace the still going on but slowly dying N20 (I20) class. I applaud Nacra for moving ahead to fill the void!

I don't see how 2'shorter beams and a foot shorter mast are going to lower the price much at all.

If anyone wants a tilt trailer custom made for the F20c or other wide boat I am having them built.

the new Nacra F20na fits nicely in the Open 20 rule set. I don't think that was their goal but it is nice how it does. do i think an updated N20 can compete with a F20na? who knows? that's why we actually have the races. it's not a foregone conclusion. if it is faster then you will see a gradually move towards the new platform and as time goes by the class develops. This is the future of our sport.

Is that a carbon mast I see on the Nacra F20? I thought the N20 mast was $10,000+ USD which is why they switched to aluminum?
