You’re invited to check out the 2002 Tommy Bahama Sailing Team web site at www.TommyBsailing.com. The 20th sailing of the Worrell 1000 is just weeks away, and the Team is proud to offer you some exciting new features this year in addition to the photo gallery and daily updates we featured last year -
Each day, you’re invited to enter a guess for the elapsed time of each of the 13 legs of the race. Guesses are automatically registered, tabulated and scored, and the winner each day will receive a Tommy Bahama apparel package, including a 2002 Team shirt and hat. Only one entry per person is permitted – multiple entries results in disqualification, and the sweepstakes closes 10 minutes prior to the warning signal for each start.
In addition to the sweepstakes, and to assist you in preparing your guesses, we have introduced, for the first time in Worrell history, real-time tracking of the Tommy Bahama Inter 20 throughout the regatta. Through a proprietary web-based interface, you’ll be able to log on to the internet and see how the Team is doing – zoom in on the map and see the next checkpoint, view live NOAA weather buoy data, or check the team’s overall progress and track, all with a click of your mouse!
You’re also invited to subscribe to our daily newsletter – updates will be prepared twice daily and sent directly to your e-mailbox from ours, keeping you up to date on what’s happening on the beach and in the surf.
Nigel, Alex and the rest of the Team are excited to be a part of the Worrell 1000 again this year – our hope is that we can impart to you some sense of what it’s like to actually be on the beach and on the water during this year’s regatta. This race is a lot of fun for us, and we’d like to take you along - so sit back, log on and get your guess in – the 2002 Worrell 1000 is guaranteed to be another wild ride!
