Now we got troubles... New Rule!

Quote
54th Annual NASS Race to Oxford
Amendment #1 to Notice of Race/GSI Amendment
New Section:
Equipment: Canting keels are allowed for PHRF boats competing in this race if part of the original design
of the boat and the boat retains self righting ability. RRS 51 and RRS 52 are changed to allow use of
stored energy to move a swing or canting keel (dead weight) for stability on a boat that has been
specifically designed for use of this appendage. This changes RRS 51 and RRS 52

Wouldn't want that expensive Farr 11s to get protested and DSQ'd again like they did at Race Week.

Not trouble, just more expensive victims.

145 registered! 7 Nacra 20s with two more expected to pull the trigger tomorrow. 2 Blades already registered and two A-class giving it the last minute lookie.

Tomorrow I say, yes, tomorrow is the last day for registrations. No late, fence sittin', weather watchin' registrants will be accepted! Read that again, tomorrow is it.

Hey Todd, when are you arriving in Galesville? Do you know where to go? I should be at WRSC, westriversc.org, on Friday from noon to 5'ish. Looks like Hollywood is picking up the flags that are required. Nice! To bad he has downsized. <img src=

What was your sacrifice?

Hey Chris,
I'm gonna try and get out of here about 6 am, which should put me up your way around noon or early afternoon. I just bought a Garmin Nuvi 255w for the trip so if this technologically challenged redneck can figger it out , I'll be all good. I've got the addy in,so hopefully we'll be on track.
Swirling 0-2 sucks!!! SW Sat. - Nw Sunday ain't a kite lovers dream either.Just gotta make the best of it.
Look forward to seein' everybody.

159 registered - still one Nacra 20 expected to register. The first A Classer has signed on. The Beach Cat Class is vying for the largest class honors in this traditional leaner event.

Maybe I like this forecast because it is more optimistic than yours:

SAT - SW WINDS 10 TO 15 KT. WAVES 1 TO 2 FT. A CHANCE OF
SHOWERS.

SAT NIGHT
SW WINDS 5 TO 10 KT. WAVES 1 FT OR LESS. A CHANCE OF
SHOWERS.

SUN
SW WINDS 5 TO 10 KT. WAVES 1 FT OR LESS.

SUN NIGHT
W WINDS

Call me when you get close,

Go cats!

The forecast changes with each update, here's the latest:
SAT
W WINDS 5 TO 10 KT. WAVES 1 TO 2 FT. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS.

SAT NIGHT
S WINDS 5 TO 10 KT. WAVES 1 FT OR LESS.

SUN
S WINDS 10 TO 15 KT. WAVES 1 FT...BUILDING TO 2 TO 3 FT IN
THE AFTERNOON.

SUN NIGHT
SW WINDS 10 TO 15 KT. WAVES 1 TO 3 FT.

A reaching race to the Choptank - maybe I'll pull out the old 6.0...

SLOW day on Saturday; with a very-shortened course and a RC who scattered the whole fleet as they led them south before starting. The cats tried their own start and then (most) restarted further south on the official line. Upwind all the way; everyone just barely finished in a dying breeze around 5 PM. Took about 2 hours for the first cats to catch the tailend (that would be us) of the big multi fleet that started 5 minutes earlier. GREAT race coming back on Sunday in nice wind; mix of upwind, reaching, and a long downwind leg to finish. I've got some short video clips of a few boats zipping along that I hope to get online later. Conditions were much more to our liking, we could let the big dog run 🙂

Here's a video I stuck out on YouTube of the Saturday race. I'll have one for the Sunday race a little later. The vid is a little long and slow, just like the race...

By the way, the Capital had Lefur winning on Saturday. I think they goofed. Alex and us actually had a tight battle for last N-20, they edged us at the line. In the video you hear two beeps from the committee boat as we cross, the first beep was for Client #9.

Rats - I was hoping for some kind of magic voodoo time warp thingy that might have transformed our pathetic result into something stellar. Oh well...

Yeah.. But you have to admit...

Client #9 is one of the best boat names in the fleet!

People will remember this boat!

Nice video, exactly as I remember it.Did you take any on Sun.?
I had a blast with everyone. I didn't know light air could be that fun. I hope all of y'all can make it down for our races down here. We party a little harder cuz the wind blows a little harder.

OK, I finally uploaded the video from the Hammond Memorial Race. Still not riveting, but better than the drift fest of Saturday!
