[#29729]

So I took an hour out of my Sunday to re-live the finish from last year's Great Texas 300. This was research, really - I'll be on the beach again this year with Sail Revolution to bring you live coverage of the event.

Steve Lohmeyer, Silent Jay Sonnenklar, Jake Kohl, Frank Moore, Bret Moss, KenDog Pierce - I'm callin' you out! You guys were titans in the distance races along the Atlantic coast; the GT300 can be a real challenge, but no other events offer such a confluence of solid race management, easy logistics and favorable conditions in this niche of the sport. If you can push, pull or drag your rig to the line, I promise you won't be sorry. We're down to a precious few offshore open catamaran events... circle the wagons, boys.

My ticket's booked.

Should be calling out Team Velocity John, they put 1/3rd the boats on the line at Key Largo for the last Tybee and took 1st place against strong home-bred and international competition.

I've been trying to get Velocity to come for years. I've given up.

Actually the only international competition won the last tybee.
And as part of the velocity team I'm pretty sure you just called out yourself.

Fine Todd first in class, 6 minutes behind a real pro. I did call myself out, we won't be on the line this year I have family obligations. Penciling it in for next year. What's your excuse?

I never called myself out... but if you must know I have two reasons I won't do it... primarily it's 2,200 miles to the start and 2,000 miles from the finish... tybee at least it was an easy (still 19 hours) home.
But more importantly, my company is awesome on vacation time but won't let me take more than a day vacation may through june as it's our busy season. And even if it wasn't, I am already taking a week+ for catacup, week+ for America's and a couple days here and there for 3 day regattas.

How long will you guys assume that it will happen again next year?

My guess is one year too long...

Very fair point John. Again it's penciled in on my calendar for next year. Todd I honestly understand I'm in the same boat, getting time off between now and July will be very tough. Plus I'm using my vacation for the same regattas as you, and have more driving to the NE events. Blah blah blah we won't be on the starting line come June.
