Sooo, the media line coming out of NZ for the new cycle of the cup is pretty disingenuous.

- clearly, they're not paying attention to A-cats, GC32s, Phantom, etc...there's a foiling revolution in multihulls BECAUSE of the america's cup.

There's also a bunch of talk about how there won't be any more

splits

now that they're back in monohulls...well, if they're fast, there will be splits. It's a function of speed and (lack of) maneuverability.

I'm interested to see these monohull creations but the lift-off speed will be higher than on the cats and who gets foil borne first will play a big result in the outcome if the wind is in that marginal zone. The marginal zone was eventually so low for the catamarans that it never really came into play (displacement vs. foiling)
