[#21813]

Not bad for a

dead

class of

obsolete

boats.

And we're not done yet. We're shooting for 50.

It's all due to the harrassment/sales ability of Chris Wessels who has e-mailed, called and cajoled anybody with an old 14 to show up to a party on a small lake in IOWA(!) the first week of September.

So, dust off that boat in the back yard, shine it up and join us for the biggest Hobie 14 North Americans in 30 years! <img src=

Hi Matt,

Are comp tips required on 14s to race? I picked up a 1983 H14 a few years ago which does not have one. I remember way back when Hobie actually retrofitted my H16 for free. Is there any program today? thanks

Class rules dictate a comptip is required. The program for free installation of a comptip ended long ago but Hobie strongly urges its dealers to sell comptips at cost.

Yep, Collin got it right. You need a Comptip to race in the North Americans.

A guy (Wessels) last year broke his Comptip on the first day and we let him race with a spare solid mast, but that's about the only slack you'll get at this event. His boat was so heavy (named

Cinderblock

) that we took pity on him. <img src=

I have two comptips in my garage if anyone needs one. Don't ask.

Nah - just a long, boring story. I should make up something good, though. <img src=
