Gals and Guys,

As alot of us here on this forum are the

Captain's

of our Vessels .... yesterday at approximently 3:35 pm EST

US Air

Captain Chesley

Sully

Sullenberger and the Captains of the local NY Waterways Ferries demostrated what it is to be

A CAPTAIN

.... threir talent and actions along w/ the

First Responders

allowed 150 passengers + 5 crewmembers to go home that night to their families ... alive.

Capt

Sully

after the landing in the Hudson personally inspected the cabin not once but twice for anyone left behind before leaving the cabin himself. The Ferry Captains upon witnessing the water landing immediately left their docks and went to render assistence arriving

On-Scene

in only minutes, thereby saving many passengers from hypothermia from being in contact w/ 35-40F water.

So if you ever need an example on how you are to conduct yourself as a

Captain

... all you need to do is follow these Captains examples ...

Nice to see a real person kids can look up to..... Someone who acted professionally and courageously in a time of great stress. Hat's off.

He has some serious credentials, 29 yrs with US Air, ex military, and runs his own Risk management group. I want to fly with him everytime. Wouldnt it be nice if we could pick our captain?

Yes, this was an excellent example of when

dung hits the fan

airmenship. And let not forget to thank the people behind the curtain that did the training that prepares these guys for these situations. No I am not taking credit from the remarkable job done yesterday, but I am certain that Captain Chesley

Sully

Sullenberger is thanking them.

It must be karma that a perfect example of skipper's responsibility and brilliant execution in a crisis shows up just as the three responsibility/insurance/liability threads were winding down.

Now... about that lost luggage?

I wonder if

Sully

would have some words for the guy that ran into that sailboat's mast and then had the stones to blame the boat 😛

My understanding is that he is a Glider/Soaring pilot as well. Bet that helped.

Sued? For what? Causing a wake?

He is also a graduate of my alma mater, Purdue University, with a degree in Industrial Psychology. Obviously a thinking man, of action.

By contrast, another famous pilot in the news last week was also a Purdue alum. The shyster who tried to fake his death by jumping out of his plane over Alabama. His

Heritage Wealth Management

had sponsored a big regatta at my sailing club, in the summer of 07. Ironic that he called his company Icon Investment Group (Get it? I-Con).
