Check that one out on Netflix. True story if I recall correctly?

Kinda makes me feel better than watching that

all is lost

...

oh, lord.

all is lost

was absolutely terrible. I think I had a list of a dozen things that were contextually completely wrong within the first 15 minutes....including - your boat hits something hard enough to blow a giant gaping hole in the side while you are asleep, during the day, in calm conditions, and your waking response is to casually sit up, peer around the bulkhead, rub your eyes, yawn, and peer around the bulkhead again? No. No...that's never anybody's reaction when your floating house, upon which your survival depends on, hits and crunches on something that hard no matter how sleepy or hung over you are.

make sure the

Abandoned

you are referencing is the movie released in 2015...not the 2016 one.

Have you ever read Webb Chile's,

Open Boat: Across The Pacific

?

He swamped his Drascome? 18' ketch luger boat and drifted to an island in the South Pacific. A very interesting story of seamanship.

Not boating related, but two years ago a netflix movie co. was looking for a conch house in the Florida Keys. They contracted mine for the summer while I went north. Now they are going into their 3rd season.
Problem being they are now shooting in the fall after I return. But they do put me and the dogs up at the Islander.
Show is Bloodline.

Also funny, I was flattered until I discovered they were looking for the rattiest house in the area. haha

I did see an episode or two of Bloodline... But didn't recognize the house (at least the giant one they had the reunion scenes in)...

Don't say

rattiest

house.. say

most character

Well, yes it is a conch house with lots of character.
This is not the rich folks house, rather the druggy guy with the hot sister. Most of the scenes are sort of dark.

Is this the right movie? Trimaran gets capsized? It says based on a true story:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4519006/

It was pretty bad for a sailing movie, but I did not think that it was really so much about the the sailing. Its a movie about his stuggle with himself.

Yes, that's the one Timbo. Doesn't look like a Farrier design, but the fact that it flipped and basically stayed afloat for 120 days makes me feel better than a monohull when the keel falls off...

I think we can agree that pretty much any movie with sailing in it isn't technically very accurate... Maybe Master & Commander but I'm not a brig sailor. Or perhaps that one about the kids racing the Transpac (but is that more of a documentary?)

But there was very little sailing in Abandoned, either. Most of it was the boat upside down <img src="<>/smile.gif" alt="smile" title="smile" height="15" width="15" />
