Area Dn Alter Cup Qualifier
Is taking place at Lake Norman Yacht Club in Charlotte, NC on October 30/31 (Halloween Weekend). This is not just a qualifier but a great big regatta at a terrific host club. There are acres of manicured grassy cat parking, multiple launch ramps, and great facilities for tents and RVs. The weather should be nice, cool, and breezy and LNYC is taking the event very seriously!
The AC qualifier (for those of you who have not ventured into the other recent threads about it) is a ladder series to qualifier of the US Sailing Multihull Championship. However, don't assume that this event has some sort of elitist happening - this simply another great regatta in our area that has an added purpose and a little different racing format. In fact, the racing format is MORE inclusive than most of our regular regattas and is something we've been working toward incorporating into our other events in the area. This is a one start handicap open racing and everyone races the same course in the same wind and has similar great stories to tell.
Let me or Scott Smith know if you have any questions or need any additional information. We should have a NOR posted soon at www.emsa-sailing.org
And oh, BTW, there stands a good chance that there will be a costume event of some sort! It is, afterall, Halloween weekend!

LNYC Multihull Fleet
Until Mark gets his way and we have a different magical handicap system, the qualifier series for the Alter Cup is a single fleet Portsmouth regatta but does not allow modification factors or boats with provisional (bracketed) ratings....so no, unfortunately.
I have a stock 18 but it has the typical redline bow cracks and I need to repair it.
I just got a new jib for the modified and was hoping to get a chance to run it against some other boats to see if I can point higher and faster than the tiger jib allowed.
Guess I will wait for next season.

Mike, there are still a couple other regattas left this season. We haven't seen you all year long!
Nov. 6-7 is Midlands at CSC (or we maybe racing in Hartwell, GA)
Nov 20-21 is a new regatta -
Last Cat Regatta
at Keowee Sailing Club (Seneca, SC)...it's open to all cats.
Let me know if you are interested in either of these and I'll be glad to send you some more info.
Thanks Jake! I have missed every race I tried to attend except
Ya Gotta
. I am experiencing crew and money issues this year. If I could find a crew that was interested enough to help with travel expenses would help, my current crew could care less about racing at all. The other guy I sail with is interested but must work on Saturdays, so he is out. Maybe by next year I can get something worked out, or get a smaller boat.
Has magic occurred yet? No [null.set] worries from this side, not doing RC/mgmt.
I will do sail metrics for mainsails/jibs/spin areas and weigh things otherwise. Fair winds,

Thanks to Trey and Chris for documenting some great racing!
Looks like that F16 number is just about right! <img src="<>/smile.gif" alt="smile" title="smile" height="15" width="15" />
Yep. Nigel winning a regatta is unprecedented. <img src="<>/smile.gif" alt="smile" title="smile" height="15" width="15" />
