Hi, Does anyone know of a source or plans for some simple bulkhead ramps with rollers to get my H-18 out of the river during the week? Only about a 3-4 foot lift. Web search only found very heavy & pricey monohull ramps. Sailing the Pamlico at Washington NC as often as time permits. Thanks, Rick

There is a long thread that might have some helpful information. The initial post was titled In-water boat stand. You can find it using the search feature at the top of this page, or click on the link below:

Thanks Mary, Some great ideas there and may be a good alternative if I can't find/build tolerably priced ramps. Will get it up off the normal wave action, keep the hulls clean, and can pull it all the way up from there for heavy weather. And - Hi to our "2nd Heaven" - the KEYS!

Down in Beaufort, we have a nice floating ramp made out of PVC and 2x4's linking them together.

It wouldn't be hard to modify the design to incorporate a winch to pull it up the ramp. The hard part is sometimes landing on the thing in a puff. There have been many a busted bow due to hitting the ramp hard.

On the flip side, launching is fun, you get at the top of the ramp and shove a little and you're flying down this thing and hit the water running.

Hi Maugan17, Thanks for the tip. Sounds neat. I'd been thing about a ramp with a floating end too and have a big pine to winch the cat up. Any chance for a photo or sketch? Thanks, Rickinriver

I dunno about the next time I'm going down, but I think I might be able to sketch something when its a reasonable hour and I'm not intoxicated

Thanks. And, a slightly intoxicated sketch could even result in fine waterfront "art". Great sailing! Rick

the one thing you'll have to modify, is the fact that this lays down over a concrete ramp with the platform floating on the water. It could be modified to dangle off a bulkhead.

Hi, Thanks M17. Just back from the wkday salt mines up north. As you say the bulkhead connection would be similar to the ramp you all have. Curious about the solidworks SW too as Jake also seems to like it. I'll be sharing water with the Fountain superboats racing & playing on the Pamlico at Washington this weekend. Have a fun weekend all.
