I am curious as to why some one gets a race boat and then does not go out to play with an active ten boat fleet.

For the same reason that someone buys a 400+bhp sports car and just drives to the shops and work?

Since they are going to load up the container with Capricorns, I hope they put my A cat on top.

If they don't you will need a bicycle pump before sailing.

There are about 5 really capable sailors that own the Nacra F18s here but it is hard to drag them out to the regattas.

Thread Hijack!!!!

Hi Dan

I have noticed much the same thing in my part of the world and often wondered... WHY?

Short of saying... The Hobie sailors go racing... They just go racing...

I really can't explain it.

I am curious as to why some one gets a race boat and then does not go out to play with an active ten boat fleet.

Mark

FYI - we had 4 Nacra F18s and 3 Tigers at our regatta last weekend.

Jake:

People probably don't race for the same reason some sailor just reach out and reach back!! That is all they are going to do. Those of us who want to be good sailors and train others and the youth RACE. Whether we come in first are DFL, we become better sailor AND might just have a little fun too. I am REALLY pissed I had to miss Deep South. IF you every get a chance PUT in on your to do list.

Doug, Do you have any good F18 events in your area in the summer?

Tigerroxj:

I don't race F18, but I know of some Tigers in my Div 6 who do. Got to the Div 6 website http://www.catamaran.ws/home.asp
Also go on our site www.tcdyc.com and get into the forum, Our Div 6 commodore is Chris Green. He is always on our site. The Galveston Bay Catamaran Championship is probably the next race local. We are having to Redfish Reach a 19 mile distance race.
