Caravan to Key Largo?
Anyone want to caravan to Key Largo? The Sailing Shack is hitting the road Jan 15th down I-385, I-26, and I-95 from Greenville, SC. We will be stopping over for a short stop in Columbia S.C. to connect with crew and his RV and then stopping somewhere in middle Florida or perhaps Sarasota area to camp out in a Wal-Mart parking lot (gotta love the RV!). Who's in? We'll stop to hook up wherever (but not everywhere!
). There's only one thing better than a line of catamarans towing down the freeway....a line of catamarans going down the freeway to make a line of cats on the water!
sarasota is on the opposite side of the state from i-95, but if you come down the west coast of florida, don't miss dunedin causeway. it is just a few minutes by boat (the only way to get there) across to caladesi island and one of the best beaches in the country.
oooo...yeah ... you're right. We were talking about swinging by and seeing my girlfriend's folks in Sarasota - that's where I got confused. NOT sarasota now, we're probably stopping around Vero Beach / Fort Pierce area (I haven't checked my Woodall's guide yet for Wal-Marts off the freeway - but I remember a Home Depot in that area). Dunedin sounds awesome and I hope to get by there before too much longer!
Maugan - what are you going down for two weeks earlier?
Jake - my final semester of my collegiate career begins the following week, thus, if I were to just play hookie from work and go sailing off into the sunset, it would have to be the week preceeding the week I have to return to class
That being said, I'll be in Jacksonville for the Gator bowl as it is... If I can get my boat painted in time (I doubt it) then I'll drag it down to FL, maybe when I hit Jax, I'll just keep driving.
