[#24245]

Earlier today I spoke with the propriator of the Islemorada Motel, which is only 3/4 mile from Founders Park. They still have 4 single (1 queen bed) rooms available Friday/Saturday, only $69/night. You must mention you are sailing Tradewinds to get the $10 discount. Nothing fancy but you cannot beat the location or the price. Ph. 305-852-9376

I get no kickback so don't mention my name...but be sure to say you are racing. <img src="<>/grin.gif" alt="grin" title="grin" height="15" width="15" />

Yeah, just booked this morning. Did not even have to mention the sailing thing to get the $69 rate!

I think I already posted this list elsewhere on the forum. I can't vouch for the rates I have listed. Maybe less, maybe more. But at least kind of relative.

Phone: 305-852-9376
They have a total of 13 rooms, 5 large and 6 small.
Rates: Small room, one queensize bed -- $69
Large room, two beds and kitchen -- $89
Web site: www.islamoradamotel.com

Lookout Lodge (Next Closest) (On the same water as the seminar)
87770 Overseas Highway (Mile Marker 87.77, bay side)
Phone: 305-852-9915
They have a total of 10 rooms
Rates start at $130.
Web site: www.lookoutlodge.com

Conch-on-Inn (third closest)
Corner of U.S. 1 and Caloosa St. (Mile Marker 89.5, bay side)
Phone: 305-852-9309
They have a total of 8 rooms
Rates: One queen bed -- $109
Two double beds -- $119
I think all the rooms have frig. and microwave.
Web site: www.conchoninn.com

Smugglers Cove (M.M. 85.5 bayside)
85500 Overseas Highway
Islamorada, FL
Rates start at $119 for two queensize beds.
www.smugscove.com

Coconut Cove Resort & Marina (M.M. 84.8, Oceanside)
305-664-0123
84801 Overseas Hwy
Cottages that have queen bed and single bed and kitchen, $155.

Located on US1 at Tavernier Creek, the Keys Motel offers 20 rooms, dockage, pool and restaurant (Paradise Tropical Café) that is open 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and has great food.

Harbor Lights Motel, (M.M. 84.9 oceanside) 305-664-3611
84951 Overseas Highway
Islamorada, FL
(Prices start at $99 for one double bed, two doubles for $109)

Tavernier Hotel
305-852-4131
91.8 Oceanside in Tavernier
17-room historic hotel
$99 a night for up to 4 people
www.tavernierhotel.com

Holiday Isle Resorts
Mile Marker 84 (3 miles south of Founders Park)
Phone: 305-664-2321
They have five hotels on the property, all with different names. You call that same number for all of them and pick the one you want. They all have different price ranges. If you want a peaceful one, get one of the motels farthest north on the property (closer to Founders Park). If you want to be where all the action is, you might want the Tower Building (also called the Horizon) or the next motel north of that. They are the closest to the Tiki Bar, which is far better than the one at Gilbert’s. Holiday Isle also has restaurants on the premises and I think food at the Tiki Bar, too.
Holiday Isle is the big “hot spot” between Miami and Key West.
(Just recently some friends got a room at one of their hotels for $79/night.)

Popp’s Motel (M.M. 95.5 bayside)
95500 Overseas Hwy
Key Largo, FL
305-852-5201
(Rates: $129-$149
www.popps.com

Sea Trail Motel, M.M. 98.6 (11 miles north of regatta site)(LOWEST RATES: It's in the middle of the highway between north and south lanes)
98620 Overseas Highway
Key Largo, FL
305-852-8001
(RATES: $44 and $55 per night)

Well, if I leave at 3:00pm, that puts me about an hour ahead of you.

Follow the smell of rum...
