Two more soon to be award winning, awe inspiring, motivational cat sailing videos have just been sent to the duplicators. They are:
Great Mark Roundings --
This is the fourth of a series of
how to...
vidoes from Sailing Seminars, a product of Rick White, sailor, racer, hall of famer and guru.
This fourth video is designed to get you to have awesome mark roundings each and every time.
Most sailors simply go around the mark and come out the other side in bad air and in bad tactical positions.
There are FIVE MUSTS you will remember when you are approaching or rounding a mark.
-- Prepare
-- Remember the Inside Overlap Rule
-- Watch for the Dreaded Pinwheel Effect
-- Slow Down to Win
-- Enter Wide, Exit Close
By following these simple rules, your overall finishes will suddenly go skyrocketing up!
Downwind Sailing
This is the fifth of a series of
how to...
videos from Sailing Seminars a product of Rick White, sailor/racer/hall of famer and guru.
This fifth video is designed to get yout to really get that cat roaring downwind. It includes learning to do the Wild Thing, Mild Thing, and also learning to use Spinnakers, Hooters, EO Snuffers, and Reachers.
You will learn:
-- To set sail trim quickly and jibe fast.
-- To read the telltales for maximum speed.

-- To do the Mild Thing (for lighter winds)
-- To do a spinnaker set, jibe, and takedown

Ohhhhhhh now, you've got me feeling guilty! I just got back from Hobie Division 7 Championships in Des Moines, and I am exhausted!
I would LOVE to come to Catfight, but am just not able to make it. I keep thinking I will someday, but when will
someday
ever get here!
I had fun with a mast that leaked like a sieve this weekend, so I have to fix that before I do anything. I'm also not sure that this MN lake sailor can handle the waves of Lake Michigian! We had all we could do to survive Saylorville in Des Moines. In fact on Saturday, we tipped, and had the enjoyment of not once, not twice, but three times in a row righting the boat, and having it IMMEDIATELY capsize in the other direction. The theory is that all that water in the comptip gave it momentum that we could not stop.
The pevious owner of the boat had a spinnaker tang up there, and we're pretty sure that's the culprit.
So....I'll be wimping out on coming to Cat Fight II, and I don't know of anyone from my fleet that's going.
And I end this note by saying SHAME ON US!
Fair winds,
Tim Johnson
P.S. Unless I find a cheap plane ticket, and someone needs crew! Just a thought!
