I have a 1995 Hobie 21 Sport Cruiser. It has a storage compartment in both hulls. On a sunny day, I can see some light coming through the bottom area of the hull when I look in the storage compartment. Is this normal, or do I have a problem. There does not seem to be excessive wear on the hull.

Thanks, Doug

The gelcoat is probably getting thin from dragging on the beach. The fiberglass is relatively translucent compared to the gelcoat. Just check the bottom keel of your hull to make sure you haven't worn away to much of the fiberglass itself. If not, just build up a new layer of gelcoat or marinetex along the high wear area of the keel and sand smooth.
