I'm going to have my Hobie 16 sprayed with EasyPoxy soon and I'm wondering if anyone has found a cheap place online to buy the paint and thinners? I know West Marine and a couple other stores sell it online, but that stuff is pretty pricey.

Thanks!

G

Is it cheaper than the Inter-thane product?

Is it better than gelcoat?

I have used easypoxy before and did not care for its durability much. It is a poly-enamel. I used Interthane 2 part polyurethane with great results and no primer. Awlgrip is similar by another company. They cost more, but you only want to do this once not every season. If you are determined to go the cheapest route and use an enamel, Rustoleum has a line of enamel marine paint out and the local Lowes here stocks it.

I would also suggest using the same color as the gelcoat. I used white on my white boat. If it scratches or chips it won't be very noticable.

Just my $.02 from my experiance.

I must agree with Psailor that EasyPoxy is not very good. I have used it on glass, epoxy, wood with epoxy, and I have used it with and without its very expensive primer. In every application the durability was less than that of cheap spray can paint.

Two part L.P. is an whole other story. That stuff seems to be very hard and durable.
