I purchased an Infusion this year and kept my 2000 Nacra 5.5. I would like to use the Infusion mast, Main Sail, boom, spinnaker, spin gear on the 5.5. Any reason why this would be a bad idea? I normally sail the 5.5 with a spinnaker solo but I like the idea of the F18 lighter wing mast. I set it up this weekend in the yard and it looks like it will only require minor tweaking to make it work.

If it is straight forward, why not? You may have a bit more nose dive compared to the Infusion hulls.
Just curious- Is there any ting wrong w/ the I F18?
thats cool go for it, it will be a bit quicker is it 170 kg or 150 kg? the f18 is too heavy at 180kg so you may have a flying machine, i put a tornado rig on unicorn hulls with wide beams it was as fast as an about 110 kg all up and as a 11 foot wide single hander it was faster than a formula 18 when they were flying a spinaker and i was just on 2 sails

Why not just get an F17? If you took the rig off the Infusion then how are you going to sail it?
If he wants a lighter mast then go for the F16 alu mast with F16 rig. Lightest alu rig available on the market today !

The 5.5 is lighter than the Infusion? I'm thinking that they are very close to the same weight.
