[#26330]

A little fishing expedition here <img src="<>/confused.gif" alt="confused" title="confused" height="15" width="15" />

I am looking for ammunition to bring to our fleet officers to have an F18 start at the Madcatter Regatta in Syracuse.

Are there any Northeast F18 sailors (or any F18 teams for that matter) that would be interested in this?

Is there any reason this is not a good idea?

I believe if I could get 10-15 F18's to commit I could make this happen.

let me know!!!!

This is NOT anything official , I am NOT an officer of Fleet 204, I am just looking for opinions.

Please keep this positive!!!

While it is possible to do this under the new HCA policy, also according to that policy, you will lose your $1000 HCA area championship grant money.

What's the incremental profit on additional boats? $25?

You'd have to have 40 additional boats to make up the difference.

Just sayin'

That's a tough one, but in the end, Matt is correct (as usual). No HCA Area Champs or NACs on this deal, only your plain old regattas for this little deal.

Hi,

Frustrating as it is for both our clubs, Madcatter conflicts with the JMMR regatta in Madison, (which is unfortunately constrained by Town and other events during and after Memorial Day).

I believe JMMR will once again be part of the very successful F18 Northeast Catamaran Cup Championship Series.

Tommy...

Agree with Matt on the new stipulations. Next question is how are the Wildcats going to figure into the new equation.

Later,
JB

Tom along the lines of our discussion.. Madcatter conflicts with: Tybee, Joe's regatta in Madison, and Alter Cup.
I would love to go to Madcatter again... I did for 5 or 6 years in a row! Unfortunately there is so much else going on that are also great events!
I know the NE fleet isn't the only within your reach.. but the rest of the season might be a bit tough too with so much else going on in the NE F18 calendar. If you send us your schedule we can take a look at it and see if any would fit into our points series and is within a reasonable drive, if so we could push to have a bigger F18 fleet at that regatta.
Not guarenteeing anything as I don't speak for everyone but that's that only realistic way I can see it happening.

Chris & Matt
-I am fully aware of the $$$$$ issue. Even tho I think excluding the area champs is silly. (another issue for face to face discussion)

JB
-The Wildcat issue is an EASY one. They race straight up with the Tigers. Score them as a fleet and seperatly if necessary.

I've had some contact with the Quebec F18s and they are very enthusiastic about the Madcatter venue

Nothing is ever easy it seems...

The Wildcat is not currently a recognized OD class. It's an F18.

Per IHCA Rule Book 2009-2012 rev. 091001 there are no provisions for the Wildcat yet.
However, the new policy proposal does allow an option to race the Wildcat within the HCA sanctioned events for local regatta.

Technically, you'd just need to request approval from the HCA Chair before the event to allow the F18 start at your local regattas.
And the NAF18 would need notification if you intended to submit for points towards national rankings.

Right.
For racing the Wildcat as an F18 those are the rules.
But to my knowledge there are no Hobie OD rules for the Wildcat as of yet.

Sooo,

To race the Wildcat at a Hobie Points regatta wouldn't you have to race under the new proposal as an approved F18 start?

This seems like a good thing to me.
