[#17241]

Just bought a video camera and waterproof housing and spent last weekend mounting and testing it on my boat. Below is a short clip from the footage taken. Will spend the next few weeks gathering footage to produce a promo video. Video is mounted on the spinnaker pole...... Will be making up brackets to mount it all over the boat.

I would be great if you could somehow super-impose a targeting crosshairs on the end of the pole...

Steve, I am really looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

At the end of the video above, there was a cat with Maxx sails. Would that be Maccas Super-Taipan 5.7?

Who said that skiffs with spi are fast ?

The counterproof is in the video. Run down by a cat without a set spinnaker !

Yes, the video is reminiscent of the old figher plane dogfight videos - execpt for the lack of tracer rounds of course.

Stephen:

I just got a camera to do the same thing. I am planning to use it for training sessions so I will be pointing the camera backwards. We will not be able to sail for a couple of weeks as I am making a new spinnaker snuffer to take with us to Europe for the Worlds. I am using the old one to copy. I will post video when I can though.

I really liked it thanks!

Later,
Dan

Yeah Mate, That's Macca's beast...... Smashed us by more tan a leg in the light breeze - less than 10 knots. Can't weight to get the camera in some serious breeze. Hopefully this weekend.

Cheers

Here is a promo video for the Tornado that we threw together. Did not use this one...... Just experimenting with what we could put together.

Plan to do something simular for the F-18 but a lot more refined.

The first video, where you're out scaring folks, ran fine, but the last two bring up the same Windows Media logo, but then it says "Done" before it even starts... any clues?

Looking good ! Now those are tacks, gybes and some doucing of the spinnaker. Training for the F18 worlds are you ?

I can hear those AHPC rudders howling softly in the back. Onmy boat that is always the signal that were are making good speed under spinnaker.

Are you going to make similar vids at the worlds, with real time commentary ?

Wouter

Yeah mate, had that problem too...... Just too many people viewing at once.

Just follow the prompts and download it to your PC before viewing. I changed to badongo.com because it gave the option of downloading.

F-18 Head cam go to this link and click on the prompt to download which is close to the top right hand corner of the page. - http://www.badongo.net/vid/84877/1

Tornado video - http://www.badongo.net/vid/80571/1

Off course mate.... Tacks and gybes were quiet slow though as I was lugging around a very baulky head cam set up which weighted about 3 kg....... Neck was very sore after the first race.

Humming is drom the c/boards...... Will have to shave the trailing edge to get rid of it.

Plan to have atleast 1 camera on the boat for the Worlds..... May be 2 with one on the boat and one very small bullet head cam.

More footage, this time in 15 plus knots @ Kurnell. Laruffa, Greg /
Kez, 2 Tornadoes and Macca's super Taipan and us in the spinnaker boat
division.

Here we have a stink boat split the spinnaker boats on a downwind.
Tornado was on the inside of us and the crew was thrown off the boat
when their boat became airborn, resulting in a capsize.

Sweet downwind spinnaker run

Stephen,

At about 2 mins 15 it looks like you dump some traveller, was this becasue you were too deep, or needeed it out more for proper sail trim.

Looks like a nice sail. Excellent video

Hi Scooby,

Very observant...... Overlayed the mark big time and let the T and other F18 right back into the race.
