Foot Straps, N6.0, fastener questions?
It's finally time for me to break down and add foot straps. They may come in handy in the Great TX Catamaran Race. Anyway, I'll be putting one for the aft foot of me
and my crew, on each hull.
I think I can get behind the skippers aft one, thru the small port hole to use a nut and bolt. Could I use a coarse screw for the crews aft one, if I can't get behind it?
I KNOW lots of people have done this for years, on Nacra 6.0's.
Any help is appreciated.

Todd,
I have a pair of windboard footstraps on the back of my 6.0. They have been on their for years. I attached them with a through bolt and used a heavy flat washer and a lock nut on the underside. The topside has a similar grommet that the bolt goes through. Access was through the aft port. I did have to get my daughter to hold the wrench on the nut on the inside of the hull while I tighened it up. I couldn't get my hand/arm inside and turn to hold it. Better find somebody small to do this for you. If you use a footstrap with a neoprene cover, you'll have to replace it every year. Mine is just nylon webbing. They have held up well. In fact it is usually used for a hand hold when picking up and loading the boat. No problems to date. I'd take a picture and send it to you, but I'm on the road. Good luck with your project and the race.
Thanks Don,
You goona make this race?
Anyway, I was wondering about the crews aft footstrap. Either it's pretty far back, or someone has LONG arms!
I'm going to go with some nylon webbing, like an old tie down, of old trap harness strap.
Other thoughts please
