I am going to replace my rudder gudgeons on my H16. Which replacements are better? The one piece or the original 2 piece type. I am not concerned about the fiberglass work if I have to install deck ports. I have already done this on the foward part of the hulls.

Dave,

The new 1 piece ones are much better. They eliminate a lot of slop ,stay aligned and dont seam to lossen the screws as much. Your pins will last much longer with them also.

Be aware if you are doing a refit to the old style, that they don not line up easily and you will have to do some grinding with a dremel tool.

Good luck

Matt

Definitely go with the cast gudgeons. I put them on my old 16 and they work great. The pins slide in so easy, there is less wear on the pin due to the extra bearing surface, and they seem lots stronger. Yes, you may have to cut some glass away from the lip. I did on one side, but the other needed nothing, just bolted on.
