Guys, there is alot of talk about forming formula's in the US (F18 and iF20) on the old forum. I see no mention of this on the new forum but maybe several of you want to participate anyway.

If so than go to the old forum at :

http://www.catsailor.com/wwwboard/wwwboard.html

Because eventually this concerns all of you.

Thanks Wouter , believe all the ideas and concepts evolved in forming the F-16 HP Class by many involved will help lay the groundwork for others .

-though I,d transfer this post on 20s for discussion on this forum , and hopefully others until a seperate 20 Forum is established.

: Good advice as always Mike -

-The other perspective and fact is that there are numerous people ,top sailors, who will never post on this forum ,who's reputation is very important to them not only personally but also professionally within their community,and rely on that good name in their occupation and the well being of their families.Why present yourself as a target for childish personal attack ?

-Obviously I believe as you do ,-but can understand the reluctance of many to post that have endured moronic personal insinuation. The examples are numerous .-

-

-Believe with the great interest now there will be enough good people involved to discuss a wide variety of concepts and approaches {on the other forum }-evolving and that no ones self interests will overide the basic intent which is rule 2 -Fair sailing and sportsmanship .

-Have noticed that these guys don,t bother to hit spell cjeck either --I like em already {joking }

-promise to hit mine if drafting partial proposed rules .

-Want to bring up the topic of ISAF and Texel {similar established design measurement rules }as a basis for rating all 20 ft boats into more of an equal performance ,-or design formula type class allowing more diversity and being more inclusive with the numerous existing boats .

-F-16 ht class has used this approach to some extent and believe it could easily be expanded.

-Historically the dangers are with this type of rule -{as many monohullers will readily tell you } is that #1-it can evolve into expensive lightweight componants for speed ,--#2-it can lead to extreme types of designs {rulebeaters }

-#3 Strength -it can lead to unseaworthy lightweight craft .

--Obviously this leads us to define catagories and write Class rules to prevent these and other negative aspects to evolve within the class,-but believe establishing this INTENT of fair sailing -for people of good will to race together for the enjoyment of the sport is the goal and main priority while including many existing catamarans and allowing diverse evolving design upgrade combinations to them and the growth and developement of new design concepts.

-With this more open Design Formula --Equal Performance Class approach it will be impossible for any individual to manipulate it for personal profit ,{being based in existing established ISAF and texel ratings ,-which also serve as the common bond internationally},-and believe it is very important to have boat builders , sailmakers ,-and boat dealers {plural } as a vital part of establishing this class.

:

-Looking forward to the formation of the class and interesting discussion .

All the best

Carl Roberts

If this is a good idea, stand up on your soapbox, shout your name and gain support. Your request to send email to an anonymous free email account is just not going to do it. Any successful organization, whether volunteer or not, takes real people willing to stand up and take responsibility for making it succeed.
