[#13048]

I just broke the #*@&%NG lower casting on my TheMightyHobie18 rudder assembly!!!! The rudder didn't kick up and the casting snapped!! Does anyone out there have a Hobie 18 (or a 17)they are selling as parts? My Hobie is an 85 and had the original rudder castings so I need either one of those or a pair of the newer complete rudder assemblies for the TheMightyHobie18 or H17. If anyone knows anyone that may be able to help please let me know.

Many thanks!

Email danberger@mindspring.com. He has a lot of parts and may have what you need.

Sorry about your breakage.

I had no end of trouble with the rudder system not kicking up on my '81, broke two castings and one transom before I finally replaced the whole thing with the new system. So I always tell people to upgrade if po$$ible, the upgrade package is expensive, but every time mine broke I lost vacation time or missed a regatta.

If you end up staying with the old system, here is a fix for the old system that allows manual release of the cams.
Quick Release System for Old-Style Hobie 18 Rudder System
