Too many still shots and not enough video. That video was very European. I just want to see the darn thing sail. It's looks incredible. Not that I can remotely afford one, but has anyone heard anything about price?

That video was more than just European...the editing left a little to be desired. Cool boat though - have they built anymore yet?

Probably no bikini clad girls lying on the foredeck, drinking coke. (I didn't get it either)

I think it was the music that he refered to as "European" - which it is and I like it.

That has got to be one of the very worst promo videos I've ever seen. It just doesn't do justice to the VX40.

I thought it was disjointed, unflowing and generally poor. It looked like some kid knocked it up on their computer in a back bedroom. If I was Volvo or Holmatro I'd refuse to let that out or pay for it. Surely Volvo, who are usually pretty slick with their marketing, can do better than that! After all the raw material (the VX40) is a marketing mans dream!

No offense... I admit, I haven't even been to Europe. It's just the techno music and the switching from still shot to still shot. It seemed very stereotypical of an urban club or something. I dunno. I'll hush before I offend someone. I'd like to see a video like what Hans Wallen did, or that video the Swedish Tornado team put together. Those were both awesome videos.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Does Booth have children?

Ahh, it was the music.. I didn't listen to it, I was to preoccupied studying the boat (and the sails, and the sailing. Strange asymetric on it..).

Agree that it's a lame video for promoting Volvo or the boats, but it is titled "Christening of Holmatro II", so I did expect some footage from the christening. Mitch (and Herbert) know a bit or two about PR work, so I expect something better in the future.

Cool boats tough, even if they have winches aboard. Hope they get the series running!

Well he's certainly got a son, called Taylor, who's a very good helm in his own right. I think Mitch and his wife have 4 kids?

I don't know about kids, but I know its way pimp to be steering a 40' cat with your fingertips 😛

There has to be at least two. The one featured in Sailing World is quite different.

That was a different breed of cat - that was one of the 6 (or 7) class boats that a bunch of owners got together and had built and based on a lake in Switzerland. Bertarelli (of America's Cup fame) owns one as well and the class actually came because he was whooping them all with a 40 footer they couldn't keep up with (either on the water or in the bank). Those cats featured in SW are just for 'club' racing.

The boat is a Tornado 40

and the price is 299K euros, $371,203.87 USD.

I just read that Mitch has 5 kids.

BTW, the boats are scheduled to do an event in Baltimore, MD on May 1st to May 5th of 2006. The rest of the schedule:
Portsmouth (GBR) and Rotterdam (NED) in June, 2006
Vigo (ESP) in November, 2005
Rio De Janeiro (BRA) in March, 2006

It's a Vx40; not a T40; the T40 was some initial ideas that Mitch et al had. IIRC Volvo came on board and renamed it the Vx40 and have provided some sort of support.

I think there are 4 or 5 more to be built and I know someone who has one on order

I thought they could have shown more action shots, and less of the Volvo Extreme 40 logo. And what's wrong with showing scantily clad women with it? This is good, but not as exciting as the Spitfire video.

I think you'll have a difficult time convincing them to pitchpole for the camera.
