The 16 Worlds is in Mexico in May 2004. The event is being held at an incredible hotel 30 miles south of Cancun in an area called Playa Riviera.
Even if you don't race, this event is going to be a blast. The Hotel is all-inclusive (room, food and drinks!) The room rate is CHEAP! The event rate is $79.00 day at double occupancy. Per Person as low as $58.00 a day when 3-4 per room when the first two pay the event rate of $79.00. Again... all-inclusive... you don't have to pay for ANYTHING else. This rate is good only through the end of October. In November it goes up a bit and after that there is no room guarantee.
These events are amazing. 60 brand new Hobie 16's provided and maintained by Hobie Cat, race for 10 days. There are Women’s, Juniors, Masters and then Open events. There will be hundreds of sailors there. The Open event will have 112 teams racing a round robin format in addition to the teams there to attempt to qualify and sailing in the other events.
Hobie Cat will be bringing a bunch of other toys to play with. A Wave, Getaway, likely 3 Bravos, kayaks.
